Whew Chile, If healing had a face and forgiveness came with a side of flashbacks, it would look just like Tina and Teddy Campbell sitting on the Dear Future Wifey podcast.
But baby, if you watched their reality show Mary Mary back in the day, then you already know this wasn’t no ordinary story of church folks forgiving and moving on—this was “I-allegedly-shot-at-you-and-we-still-married” levels of redemption.
But I like Tina because she’s very raw and real about who she is. Let’s talk about it.
Tina Campbell—known for being the fiery half of gospel duo Mary Mary—didn't hold back when her husband Teddy admitted to infidelity. And not just one slip-up. Oh no, it was a whole entourage of betrayal. Word on the street (and in Mary Mary reruns) was that one of the women Teddy was tangled up with was Tina’s nanny.
You read that right. The same woman she trusted to take care of her children was allegedly taking care of Teddy too. Whew, I know Jesus forgives, but I would've needed at least a sabbatical and a glass of Merlot.
Now, here’s the part that had me clutching my communion cup—Tina was ready to take Teddy out. Like, allegedly, Bible-to-the-side, gun cocked ready. And honestly? I believe her. She was spiraling, we saw it. She was honest about that rage. So I was a little shocked to see them revisiting it all on the podcast. I mean… sir, why you want to open those wounds again?
And Teddy? Chile I didn’t even realize he was all up in the music industry like that. Apparently he played for Jay Leno’s Tonight Show band, so he was working at night, and Tina was touring by day. I guess when you’re married, never seeing each other could be a recipe for disaster.
So when exactly did he find time to cheat? In between sessions? During a commercial break? Like, how?
But here's what stuck out to me: Tina gave Teddy hellfire and a handbasket for what he did—but the woman who participated? Not so much. Sis, where was that same “Holy Ghost rage” for her? I’m just saying. She got a pass while Teddy got the wrath of an Old Testament prophet. Allegedly.
Yet, in the midst of all this, you could tell Tina did the work. Real work. Spiritual, emotional, therapy-type work. Lucky for them, she eventually realized that always being gone and prioritizing career over connection played a role too. They both had to take accountability. And somehow, somehow, they made it.
So yeah, it was hard to watch, harder to live through, but on the Dear Future Wifey podcast, you can see how far they’ve come. Is it messy? Absolutely. But is it also a masterclass in brutal honesty, commitment, and some would say... divine grace of God! Yes.
Still, if I were Teddy, I’d sleep with one eye open and the GPS turned on.
Moral of the story: forgiveness is divine, but don’t sleep on a woman scorned—especially one with a Grammy and a Glock.
