Bold, Brave, Fearless, and God-Called: The Biblical Prophetesses Who Made History in God’s Name

Let’s be honest—sometimes the women of the Bible get overshadowed by the big-name guys. But if you look closer, you’ll see bold, fearless, God-driven women who stepped into leadership, spoke truth, and changed the course of history. One of those trailblazers is Priscilla.

Priscilla wasn’t just “Aquila’s wife” (though their partnership was legendary). She was a teacher, a mentor, and a co-laborer in Christ. When the eloquent preacher Apollos didn’t fully understand Jesus, Priscilla stepped in—alongside Aquila—and took him aside to teach him the way of God more accurately (Acts 18:26). That’s right: she wasn’t waiting in the background; she was shaping spiritual leaders

Paul even called her a “fellow worker in Christ Jesus” (Romans 16:3). That’s high praise, and it tells us she wasn’t just present—she was pivotal.

But Priscilla isn’t the only woman whose story shouts: “Don’t underestimate me!”

  • Miriam, sister of Moses, led God’s people in worship and prophecy (Exodus 15:20). Her voice helped guide a nation out of slavery.

  • Deborah, the judge and prophetess, commanded armies and gave strategic counsel to kings (Judges 4:4–5). She didn’t just advise—she led, and Israel listened.

  • Huldah, consulted during King Josiah’s reign, confirmed God’s word and helped redirect a whole kingdom back to righteousness (2 Kings 22:14–20).

  • Anna, who lived in the temple, prayed and fasted constantly, and recognized the infant Jesus as the Messiah (Luke 2:36–38). Her devotion reminds us that perseverance in prayer is never wasted.

These women moved in authority, wisdom, and courage. They weren’t content to sit in the shadows—they used their voices, their knowledge, and their God-given gifts to impact history.

In today’s world, Priscilla and her sisters are a reminder: women are called to lead, teach, and inspire. Whether in ministry, business, or family, the God-given influence of women is powerful, necessary, and unstoppable.

So next time you feel like your voice won’t make a difference, think of Priscilla and the prophetesses before her. They didn’t wait for permission—they stepped up and changed everything.
