Today we remember the life and legacy of Reverend Jimmy Swaggart, who passed away at the age of 90. His family announced:

“Brother Swaggart has finished his earthly race and entered into the presence of His Savior, Jesus Christ… Today was the day he has sung about for decades… we rejoice knowing that we will see him again one day.”

Known around the world for his powerful preaching and gospel music, Swaggart was a major figure in American televangelism.

He rose to prominence in the 1970s and 80s through his television ministry, at one point reaching millions of households and generating tens of millions in donations each year. His sermons were fiery, his voice unforgettable, and his influence undeniable.

But his journey wasn’t without public scandal. In the late 80s and early 90s, his ministry suffered deeply following a series of moral failures that made headlines.

He never gave up the name of the Lord, and served Jesus Christ to the end.

Still, he pressed forward, continuing to preach, sing, and rebuild his ministry with a loyal base of followers.

Jimmy Swaggart leaves behind his wife Frances, his son Donnie, and a legacy that shaped the modern face of Christian broadcasting. His story is a reminder of both human frailty and the resilience of faith.
